Night life
in the High Country is different from your normal area. Not only is

Lees-McRae College Summer Theatre in Banner Elk turns out some of the most talented graduates heading
into the worlds of dance, song, and theatre.
Louisiana Purchase -
is located in Banner Elk. The Purchase draws young and old alike to
live jazz and their wine bar on Friday and Saturday nights. Local
jazz duo, Culpepper and Dulin are featured Thursday nights. The
area's finest wines are available by the glass from their
world-renowned cruvinet and their wine list has been recognized by
Wine Spectator as one of the best in the country. For an upscale,
more refined atmosphere, and some of the best jazz around, don't

Murphy's Restaurant and
Pub
is one of the most popular bars in the area. On any given night, the
most eclectic blend of locals, college students and tourists will be
enjoying seven TVs with NFL programming, 12 beers on tap, a wide
assortment of imports and live music as well. Murphy's features Papa
Gumbo, playing hat blues, soul and Rand
B starting at 10 p.m. on
Wednesdays. Murphy's also features a game room with four pool
tables, shuffleboard, and a jukebox for your enjoyment. If you like
good beer and appetizers, good sports and a nice competitive round

Tijuana Fats
is located in downtown Blowing Rock. They offer the best
margaritas
around. Don't miss Margarita Mondays. They are open late-night hours
on the weekends. Tijuana Fats is frequented by locals and tourists
for their great beer specials and cozy, casual atmosphere. They
offer live entertainment but suggest calling ahead. For more

Woodlands Barbecue and
Pickin' Parlor
is located in Blowing Rock on Highway 321. Woodlands features live
entertainment nightly with no cover in a down-home casual
atmosphere. Woodlands holds all ABC permits, so you can enjoy your
favorite cocktail or have your favorite beer while enjoying some of
